How to make a mandatory face mask a little more cheerful? Embroider on it!
I actually created this for the #bigcommunitysew competition, but it was fun to experiment with the design, and I loved embroidering these colourful fireworks interspersed with gold thread under the fancy 'writing' (which was definitely not freehand!). I had previously only made folded fabric face coverings, so this was my first fitted style. Given that it was measured to my face size, I think I prefer it to the other kind, and I couldn't resist going all out by tying little bows in the ribbons to go over the ears. Can you guess where the ribbons came from? (Answer: hanging loops from clothing! I have quite the collection as they can be so useful for craft and sewing projects. Would recommend you cut them out of clothing where they're not needed and keep a little stash for the opportune moment).
