Everyone has some items in their wardrobe that they plan on wearing again at some point, but will always avert their eyes and pick out something else, leaving the garment to silently sigh and wait for its time to shine one day. One of these for me is this vibrant purple stretchy dress, which served its time well on several occasions about 8 years ago, but I've always avoided choosing it since. Not really sure why!
It slowly made its way onto my old-garments-to-be-reused-for-their-fabric pile, until I suddenly had an idea to shorten the length dramatically, and use the fabric to create some long bishop-style sleeves. I didn't really end up with enough to create pronounced sleeves, but I still rather like them!
The transformed dress feels far more adaptable for different occasions: fancy daywear, both semi-casual and smart evening wear etc. Here's to a new lease of life for this discounted dress I bought years ago!
