I bet that every one of you crafty creatives have creations from the past that you look back on and just think ‘oh I can’t have that on display’, and hastily put it to the back of the cupboard. But how many of you have gone through your old bits and pieces and rediscovered something that could now take the modern world by storm?
Well, perhaps this might not appear in London Fashion Week, but I’m so happy I had a look through my old knitted pieces and threw this cardigan over a white T-Shirt and paired it with some high waisted black jeans. In this case I think it was a case of styling it the way I wanted, and the realisation that there are so many colourful and unique trends out there right now, that anything goes – literally! Receiving ‘jumper envy’ from my friend was the cherry on top of the colourful and cosy cake.
I think one of the most wonderful things about knitting is making a design your own with the choice of wool and perhaps adding some unique touches. In my case, it was choosing a fun wool (which at the time I quickly regretted) and somehow the shape seemed to veer off pattern a little! But as a result, I now have a balloon sleeved cropped jumper which is surprisingly trendy. Or so I’m lead to believe…
The pattern was taken from Stylecraft’s ‘Extra Special DK Pattern 8497 Cardigan’, which you can view here.
