The Queen's Gambit | Mint Green Dress

What a fun challenge! I haven't tried to replicate a garment before, so this was certainly new to me, and it turned out that I really enjoyed marking up the photo of the original and making measurements. I considered using a similar pattern, but went rogue and drafted it from scratch.

I chose to use the lovely Stretch Crepe Fabric in Mint Green from Minerva, which is likely to be slightly heavier than the original and with more structure, but the result is a much comfier dress! And I do love a bit of structure.

I will admit that the fabric stretched a little whilst trying to make a keyhole opening at the back, rather than sewing in a zip, so I created long black strips to hide it! And somehow I feel like this gives an elegant look to the back view.

Ever felt like re-creating a garment from a programme? I recommend! And it's certainly likely to turn heads when people recognise it. Watch the 'Making Of' here.
